Mountains.

Darjeeling is cold.
A good cold.

One of those colds that sinks in, permeates every aspect of existence - in an October-chill type of way. I feel as if I should be costumed and trick-or-treating given this weather.

The tea here is exceptional.
I'm on a mountain.

There's no schedule here. There's no rushing-to-get-to-Topsia-for-class. There's just air, and tea, and five incredible friends.

I love Josefin.
She's Swedish.

I feel so blessed to be here.
Also, I'm wearing eyeliner.

I'm sorry this is a slight mess of a post.

This morning, Josefin said something about "it's amazing how much language affects identity," and I felt the smile forming on my face before the joy registered in my brain. I don't know what it is about language, but I love it more than I can explain. Most of the locals here are speaking something I cannot understand.

My photo has almost finished loading.

This is the view outside my window:

I can breathe here.

Love and rejuvenation,
Stephanie

Mountains are nice. Tea is good. Breathing is underrated.

Please tell Josefin I've enjoyed her posts. I've been running them through a Norwegian-to-English translator. It's interesting how much you can pick up when you can only read one out of every three words. I'm glad she liked the concert.

Enjoy your vacation.

Love, Dad

The word is sturth, which are mixed up truths that come up from the earth that can only be interpreted when standing on the earth and breathing air that's thin and cold while making good decisions to keep yourself safe and sane. See you in 56 days.

i'm so so so glad you can have relaxation time.
the picture from outside your window is gorgeous.
it reminds me of my time in the czech republic of all things. so a silly thing made me smile today. that being that the picture's date was "backwards" according to americans. 11/2/2009. i learned that dating system in my swedish class this week.

11/2/09; years from now, will you think that is Nov 2nd, or Feb. 11? Hmmm. I am glad you are breathing clean air. 'Tis good to breathe clean air. How were the train rides? What language do the Darjeeling people speak? Do we really need a common language when we have smiles to share? Enjoy your rejuvenating break. Keep us posted (pun intended!)

Love,
Mom Panda, who is going on a rejuvenating OSRUI retreat this weekend!

P.S. My word is shearcho; as in "cherchez/search all around you" (or maybe get a hair cut?) :~)

The word is "menshn", which means did I menshn you should make decisions that keep you safe and sane (and do good things, that make you a mensch.)

Did you ride the toy train? Did you see the sun rise over Mt. Everest? Say "Hej panda vän" to Josefin.
